Can writing be a ministry? How can an avid writer possibly be used to further the kingdom of God?

It's pretty obvious why priests would write. After all, the Gospel writers wrote down the very words Jesus spoke, and St. Paul wrote to the churches. The New Testament is full of written letters. Down through the centuries the written word has been used to communicate, to teach, and to evangelize.

The fact is, the written word is a constituent to our faith. Early writers started with parchment scrolls and quickly moved to bound books. Now days there are so many mediums and tools accessable to us. If writting is a passion than it is a gift that should be used to the glory of God. The day I stand before God I do not want to say, "Ok God I know you gave me many gifts, but I'm only going to use the gift of song since it's comfortable for me". The more you pour out your giftings for the kingdom, the more ways you open yourself up for judgement. However, when your about the Father's business, the more he will be about your business.

There are many ways to cultivate your gift. Start small and write a journal or start a personal blog. Write for your local church's newsletter. Write articles and reflections that will inspire the reader. You should use what inspires you and what you are passionate about as a subject. I am passionate about the deep things of God.I could talk all day about spiritual warfare, dreams, and visions. Since I am passionate about those things, you will find that I will write about them. If writting is a gift, use it to inspire the body of Christ! Don't compare yourself! Comparison is the theif of joy!

As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

1 Peter 4:10 KJV
