And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the Lord, and devoured them, and they died before the Lord.
Leviticus 10:1-2
The Hebrew word translated “strange” means unauthorized, foreign, or profane. God gave very specific instructions on how his people were to offer up sacrifices. God not only rejected their sacrifice; He found it so offensive that He consumed the two men with fire.Thank God we don't still have to follow that law! I am so thankful for his faithfulness.
There are some questions we should ask ourselves even though they do not feel good. Is my worship tainted? Am I submitted to my pastor? Am I submitted to my husband? Do I have any bitterness towards my brother or sister? What Spirit do I entertain the most? Where do my priorities lie? These are all great self inventory questions that make us stop and think about our inner man. One of the most venomous spirits that is attacking the church today is perversion.
Perversion makes wrong look right and right look wrong. The battle is in the mind. The spirit of perversion will allow us to think we are ok when really we are tainted. When we allow sin to continue without exposing it , a wall will be built up between us and God. The wall will soon become a stronghold that is fortified. We must die daily and allow God to renew our mind each day. I don't ever want to offer up strange fire unto God and be consumed by the very thing couldn't lay down.
There is a few different ways that perversion can manifest itself. One way that spreads like wildfire in churches today is spiritual perversion. Spiritual perversion can happen when the body tries to correct the body. If we look in the bible the body of Christ is compared to a female, we are the bride. The word of God is always masculine, he is the groom and the authority. When a child has an injury the mother is the nurturing figure and kisses away the pain.Nurturing is a part of the woman's make up and purpose. When the body of Christ , who is meant to be the nurturing figure, begins to correct they step into a role that is not meant to be operated in . That which is feminine is now becoming masculine. This can delve into spiritual perversion. The body is meant to be loving and nurturing. We are not perfect as long as we have flesh. However, correction needs to be left to the authority that God has placed into the church. We do not want blood on our hands.
Blood is often not looked at as spiritual but the bible tells us that blood has a voice. Genesis 4:10 says " What hast thou done? The voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground". When Cain killed Abel the voice of Abel's blood cried unto the lord and testified against him. Blood has a voice and it can testify against you. This shows us how powerful pleading the blood of Jesus over our families and situations truly is. When we find faults with one another, it is better to take it to God and allow him to deal with the situation than to commit spiritual perversion and have blood on our hands. Above all else we must be saved.
Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compasses about with so great a cloud of witness, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, let us run with patience the race that is set before us.
